CATEGORY:: Activities
Type: Day Hikes
About (Owner’s description): The Cape Dune Mole-rat Trail is an easy and comfortable hike but mostly it is out in the open and therefore recommended as an early morning or late afternoon walk. You can get a self-issued permit at the start near the Rondevlei bird hide.

Be sure to take liquid refreshments along on this trail, there are several options on this trail e.g. there is a 6km loop and a 3km loop which overlaps. A beautiful, scenic trail traversing through a few different vegetation types. The sandy trail is soft under foot in some places. Portions of the trail overlook Rondevlei and Swartvlei lake.

The hiking distance of the trail is approximately 8 km and takes a relatively fit person about 2- 4 hours complete. The hike is rated in terms of difficulty as average.

You get good views of the inland lakes, indigenous vegetation, fossilised dunes, bird and animal life. The Dune Molerat Trail offer great views of the lakes of the Wilderness Lakes Area. Enjoy indigenous vegetation such as trees and fynbos.
